Berlin-based duo OY departs from “Place des Clichés” to yet another transformative journey.
Heartfelt, multi-layered, and meditative, Oy’s new single “Place des Clichés” set to premiere on the 6th of May, gives us just a glimpse of their forthcoming album.
“The way you look at me says more about yourself than it could tell about me”, guided by vocalist Joy Frempong, the witty but trenchant lyrics take you on a stroll away from pre-conceived judgements and end the sonic momentum by prompting you to see beyond appearances. Much like the rest of the project, “Place des Clichés” is an invitation for togetherness and global awareness.
After an outer-space experience with their last Afrofuturistic LP “Space Diaspora”, the avant-pop pair, lands their sonic vessel back on earth, with a panoramic outlook on society as a whole.
Oy’s upcoming third album, continues the quest for a more colourful and brighter futures, with vocalist and musician Joy Frempong as our trusted guide, and producer Marcel Blatti at the machines. While lyrically the album goes through the social whirlwind of identities, nations and diverse experiences, the melodies anchor this sensory experience in cohesiveness and unity. Aided by melodic synths, poetic verses, and compelling chants, the tracks are smoothly woven into a warm and textured fabric of sounds.
