I think it’s a problem everywhere that we are taught history in this very insular manner. Where, basically we are taught the history of our respective nation states, and maybe at best the regions or continents that our countries belong to. That means that we are largely unaware of - you know, what happened in different parts of the world - how the different people around the world experienced modern history. So it’s a problem that has to be overcome, and one way of overcoming it is writing global history. And fill up these large holes in people’s imagination
